Custom Platform URL

Branded URLs help identify your platform in a familiar way to your institution

CampusGroups allows the use of a Custom Platform URL, or Branded URL to better identify your platform to students, staff, faculty, alumni, and visitors.

This URL will replace base URL school.campusgroups.com URL in the address bar.

Formatting

Custom URLs have specific formatting requirements

  • Must include a subdomain: https://yoursubdomain.university.edu

  • Custom URLs must all be lower case.

Process

  1. Select the custom URL you would like to use
  2. Create a CNAME record in your DNS configuration
  3. Send the custom URL to Ready Education
  4. Ready Education will complete the setup and inform you when it is complete

DNS Configuration

A new CNAME record record will need to be created in your DNS configuration. This record must point from your Custom URL to your base CampusGroups URL

For example, if your CampusGroups instance is available at https://school.campusgroups.com and you would like to use https://custom.example.com as your custom url, you will need to create a CNAME record in your example.com DNS configuration:

custom        IN      CNAME  school.campusgroups.com

The specific configuration settings will vary by DNS provider.

Timeline

Once we have your Custom URL, our team will enter this into our system. The automated creation and verification process takes several days to complete and validate. Our team will reach out once the process is complete and your new Custom URL has been verified and is in place.
